Why FutureGen Exists

Too many girls begin to disengage from sport during the critical years between childhood and adolescence.

FutureGen exists to help change that.

We help girls aged 9–14 discover, participate in and stay in sport, using rugby as a powerful vehicle to build confidence, friendships, resilience and a sense of belonging.

By connecting schools, clubs and communities, we create clearer pathways from a girl's first experience of rugby to sustained participation in community sport.

Because introducing a girl to sport is only the beginning.

The real opportunity is helping her stay.

How FutureGen Works

FutureGen works across schools, clubs and communities to create a connected pathway into sport for girls aged 9–14.

We start where many girls first discover new sports — at school.

Through inclusive coaching, school programmes, tasters and festivals, we create positive first experiences of rugby and give girls the confidence to participate.

But we don't stop at discovery.

We support teachers and coaches, connect schools with community clubs and create clear opportunities for girls to continue playing beyond the school environment.

Our goal is simple:

Turn discovery into participation. Participation into belonging. And belonging into a lifelong relationship with sport.

Our programmes are designed to do more than introduce girls to the game. We help create a connected journey from a girl's first experience at school through to sustained participation in community sport.

Creating the opportunity to discover

We bring inclusive, high-quality rugby directly into schools, giving girls the opportunity to experience the game in a familiar, welcoming and supportive environment.

Tasters, Festivals & Events

Turning first experiences into excitement

FutureGen creates tasters, festivals and playing opportunities that bring girls together from different schools and communities.

These experiences allow girls to play, make friends, build confidence and experience the sense of community that makes sport so powerful.

Our events aren't designed to be isolated experiences. They provide another entry point into the FutureGen Pathway and an opportunity for girls to discover what comes next.

Teacher & Coach Development

Building the people who make participation possible

Creating more opportunities for girls requires confident teachers, coaches and volunteers.

FutureGen supports the people delivering girls' sport through practical training, resources and development opportunities.

We help teachers and coaches build the confidence and skills to create positive, inclusive rugby experiences and continue providing opportunities beyond FutureGen-led sessions.

By developing people as well as players, we help create sustainable sporting opportunities within schools and communities.

Helping schools keep rugby going

FutureGen supports teachers and coaches with practical resources that make it easier to continue providing rugby opportunities independently.
